About Our Team

The Housing Solutions Team is comprised of professionals from local and state government agencies, Real Estate sales and services, Rebuild Northwest Florida, consumer advocacy groups, nonprofit organizations, and representatives from the banking and construction industries. Chair is Susan Senkarik, director of community impact for United Way of Escambia County.

The Housing Solutions Team works closely with the Poverty Solutions Team as many of the goals are shared. Housing solutions and goals are discussed at monthly Poverty Solutions Team meetings, held the fourth Thursday of each month at 3:30 p.m. at the Dorrie Miller Center, 2819 N. Miller St., Pensacola.

Unite Escambia's Housing Goals include:

1. Increase by 100 every quarter the number of individuals who have the tools necessary to obtain/maintain affordable housing.
2. Conduct at least 10 housing workshops yearly with emphasis on basic money management, credit and credit repair, and basic home maintenance.
3. Decrease substandard housing by half (from 5% to 2.5%) by 2020.
4. Increase homeownership by 10% by 2020.

Recent community accomplishments within the Housing priority include:
• Two large scale, open to the public Housing oriented workshops: 190+ in attendance
• Four partner organizations held 75 housing/ basic money management workshops reaching 487 households
• At least 4 home purchases recorded and more than 100 participants have avoided eviction or home foreclosure
